Position Title: Regional Operations Manager (Western Ontario)

Team and Location: Burlington, Blyth or St. George, ON

Position Summary:

The Regional Operations Manager oversees the overall operations and integration of new business in western Ontario. Utilizes benchmarks such as employee and customer satisfaction and budget performance. Works with Territory Managers, Operations Managers, Service Department, HSE Field Advisor, Customer Experience, Logistics, Continuous Improvement, Sales and Parkland support groups and maintains a creative approach to the business to maximize long-term profitability for the region

Key Responsibilities:

  • Steward the of health, safety and the environment as it relates to all employees, contractors, and customers in the operating region.
  • Live Parkland’s BOLD (Build / Own / Lead / Deliver) behaviours on a local level.
  • Drive long-term growth in profitability of the region as measured by operating ratio, EBITDA and return on capital employed (ROCE). Targets to be reviewed annually but will generally be to achieve organic EBITDA growth of 5% year over year and 20% return on capital employed (ROCE).
  • Enable growth by giving confidence to the sales team that operations will be able to deliver a delightful customer experience in all of their interactions with Parkland’s brands.
  • Lead and motivate a large team to achieve results through both direct and indirect management.
  • Encourage local ideas and initiatives to help achieve the goals of the business. Establish clear work standards and expectations across the region.
  • Conduct regular audits on adherence to those standards, praise performance and discipline as necessary.
  • Champion and implement corporate initiatives to help drive the above objectives / responsibilities.
  • Build, maintain and leverage relationships with various internal departments to improve service to the customer that will result in improved regional performance.
  • Develop future business leaders and identifies opportunities to highlight their skills on a regional level.
  • Manage the overall fleet efficiency objectives in conjunction with Territory Managers and Logistics by reviewing and implementing fleet efficiency projects.
  • Facilitate margin objectives through margin management, optimizing load preferences, and delivery scheduling in the field.
  • Conduct regular site visits to keep in contact with branch personnel and educate employees on company objectives and results.
  • Maintain an up-to-date understanding of relevant provincial regulations and procedures.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Undergraduate degree in Business, Finance or equivalent experience.
  • 5+ years leadership experience, industry experience an asset.
  • A motivated self-starter, with good organizational skills.
  • Strong leadership, interpersonal, multitasking, and prioritization skills.
  • Competent working with email, excel, power-point, teleconferencing, video conferencing.
  • Willingness to travel with overnight stays required ~4x per month.
  • Valid Class 5 driver’s license with a clean drivers abstract.
