Job description: Job Summary:

Hexo is currently looking at hiring a General Maintenance Laborer. Under limited supervision this position is responsible for all facets of Hexo Langley building site, associated operations and activities may include: first response to mechanical, architectural, plumbing and other building system related problems during and after normal working hours. The General Maintenance Laborer will perform a variety of skilled duties in one or more building trades, such as painting, carpentry, minor plumbing or other recognized crafts for the purpose of maintaining and repairing the building/facility.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Be able to use hand tools and have a basic understanding of construction.
• Working at heights and conducting work with proper safety protocols.
• Operate construction equipment (Forklift, Scissor lift, Boom lift, Pallet Stacker).
• Perform setup and cleaning task at designated worksites.
• Provide labor support as needed for specialty crews.
• Perform scheduled maintenance on assets.
• Perform duties inside and outside the facility.

Qualifications:

• Grade Twelve or equivalent required.
• Basic and general knowledge of mechanical and electrical building systems, plus knowledge of building maintenance required.
• 1 to 5 years experience in construction or equivalent industry.
• Clean Drivers abstract.

Salary:

Commensurate with experience and qualifications.

Security Clearance:

Criminal Record check required.
Health Canada security clearance may be required.

Working Hours:

Hourly Position: Rotating Shift Work.

This position will require afterhours or extended hours based on activity.

Physical Requirements:

• Must be able to lift and stack objects up to 55 pounds occasionally and frequently exert 10 to 20 pounds of force to lift, carry, push and pull objects.
• Work involves frequent periods of standing and walking, which may include climbing ladders and staircases.
• Work involves stooping, kneeling, crouching, twisting/turning and reaching; bending at the waist. Indoor/outdoor environment with exposure to weather extremes.
