We are looking for a casual hospitality worker / cook’s helper for our Brandt’s Creek Mews long-term senior care community in Kelowna, BC.

Position Overview as a Cook’s Helper:
- Under the direction of the Cook/Chef or Site Leader, assists in preparing ingredients required for meals and catering orders;
- Washes, cuts and peels fruits and vegetables. Weighs, measures and arranges various ingredients. Carries out work by following standardized recipes, daily production sheets, café orders & catering requisitions;
- Transports food in hot carts to neighbourhoods, sets up steam tables and serves meals;
- Cleans all food service equipment in preparation and service areas; washes dishes, pots, pans and utensils used in preparation and service of meals; Segregates and removes garbage, and steam-cleans or hoses garbage containers;
- Cleans food service & dining room areas within each neighbourhood. Clears tables, loads/unloads dishwasher. Cleans & sanitizes counter-tops & small appliances in the neighbourhoods and restocks food & beverages ensuring proper inventory rotation methods are employed;
- Forms positive relationships with clients & families to enhance the dining experience. Gathers client feedback related to food choices & reports it to the Chef/Cook to continuously improve food quality & service; and
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Position Overview as a Hospitality Worker:
- Delivers exemplary housekeeping services within client suites, amenity spaces & common/administrative areas;
- Schedules cleaning around client needs & requests;
- Responds to non-scheduled requests for housekeeping & laundry assistance;
- Following established weekly schedules, cleans & sanitizes common areas, offices, and amenity & support spaces;
- Under direction of the Building Services Manager performs deep cleaning functions of flooring, carpet, walls, furnishings & window coverings;
- Following infection prevention & control protocols, collects and transports soiled linens and personal laundry from each neighbourhood to commercial laundry area;
- Washes, dries, sorts & folds flat linens, towels & personal laundry;
- Following established inventory ‘top up’ levels, prepares stocked linen carts for each neighbourhood ensuring rotation of clean linen stock; and
- Returns clean personal laundry to each neighbourhood.
To Be Considered:
- Experience assisting in the preparation of meals in a health care environment an asset;
- Familiar with provincial health & safety regulations;
- Ability to effectively organize work to respond to the needs of a high stress environment; and
- Current Food Safe certificate Level 1 – Basic (or equivalent); and
- Previous hotel, senior home or commercial housekeeping experience.
