Reports directly to the VP Tax.

What you will do:

  • Provide timely and accurate oversight for corporate income tax compliance and reporting for our global organization
  • Ensure that the Nutrien Ag Solutions group of companies is in full compliance with the income tax laws and regulations in the jurisdictions in which we operate, and that income taxes are appropriately reported in accordance with International Financial Reporting Standards
  • Global corporate income tax compliance, tax accounting and forecasting, and related tax projects across Nutrien’s retail business unit
  • Direct and supervise a growing team across multiple jurisdictions, including effective leadership and performance management
  • Direct and supervise external tax professional service providers to deliver necessary income tax compliance and reporting advice
  • Develop working knowledge of tax legislation and policy for all jurisdictions within Nutrien’s retail business unit, including North America, Australia, Brazil and Argentina
  • Determine current and deferred tax accruals for business combinations, including purchase price accounting and uncertain tax positions
  • Manage and maintain contemporaneous documentation to support transfer pricing policies
  • Lead continuous process improvement initiatives for the Nutrien tax CoE, including planning, evaluating and analyzing Nutrien’s tax technology requirements and processes with respect to compliance and reporting
  • Manage routine income tax audits by tax authorities
  • Build and maintain successful relationships with all relevant internal and external stakeholders including Nutrien Finance & Accounting teams, advisors, and auditors
  • Work effectively with peers within the Nutrien Tax Center of Excellence (“CoE”) to:
  • Ensure consistency of tax policies
  • Develop best practices/processes
  • Collaborate on strategic tax planning projects; and
  • Ensure accurate tax reporting of significant transactions.
  • Accelerate the adoption of leading tools and innovative processes for managing tax data
  • Manage tax requirements for complex cross-border related party transactions; and
  • Analyze the tax compliance and reporting requirements of ongoing merger and acquisition transactions.

What you will bring:

  • A Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Accounting or Law from a recognized institution
  • 15 years of experience practicing tax in either a global organization or a reputable Tax Consulting Firm supporting Global organizations
  • Strong business orientation/business acumen and keen analytical skills
  • Ability to collaborate with and influence decision makers across the organization
  • Inspirational people leader, able to engage a workforce and develop people to their greatest ability
  • Excellent critical thinking skills and strong attention to detail and processes
  • Demonstrated technical competency to achieve business objectives
  • Ability to clearly communicate strategy, plans and issues across the organization
  • Demonstrated progressive management & leadership skills gained through leading a team of professionals
  • CPA designation or US Master of Tax Designation
  • In-depth knowledge of IFRS accounting for income taxes IAS 12, including purchase accounting
  • In-depth knowledge of Canadian or US corporate income tax legislation and policy
  • Working knowledge of foreign tax legislation, including US, AUS and Brazil considered an asset
  • CPA designation or US Master of Tax Designation
  • Experience using the following computer systems: SAP, BPC, or Longview is considered an asset

Compensation & Benefits:

Salary Range $140,000 – $200,000 USD annually. This range is estimated for Sr. Director, Tax, Compliance & Reporting – Global Retail, in Loveland, Colorado. Actual salary and benefits may differ based upon location.

In addition to base pay, this role is also eligible to participate in our annual incentive plan and long-term incentive plan, consistent with the terms of our program(s) where discretionary pay out of awards is reflecting components such as performance of the company and the employee.
