We currently have a Regular Full-Time opportunity for a Senior Financial Analyst (Reporting and Auditing) in the Finance Department at our Bayview campus.

Hours of Work:

Weekdays: Days, 8 hrs shifts, As per schedule

Summary of Duties:

The Finance department of Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre has a permanent, full time opening for a Senior Financial Analyst – Reporting and Audit. Priority will be given to candidates with experience in audit, financial statement preparation and demonstrated success as a self-starter.

Reporting to the Manager, Reporting and Audit, the responsibilities include:

  • Coordination and completion of annual reporting submissions including annual consolidation
  • Actively participating in the coordination and completion of monthly and annual financial statements and note disclosures, including creation and review of supporting documents
  • Preparing and/or reviewing working papers supporting year end audited financial statements and special audits
  • Manage assigned balance sheet accounts by investigating any discrepancies and preparing necessary adjusting journal entries
  • Performing special “internal audit” reviews as necessary including determining audit/review approach, executing and arriving at recommendations
  • Participating in identifying and implementing process improvements throughout the department, including accounting policy development
  • Leading ad-hoc financial reporting related projects by providing analysis and strategic insights to drive decision making
  • Reviewing and documenting accounting transactions, providing guidance and analyzing emerging accounting issues to enable understanding of the impact to the Hospital
  • Acting as an subject matter expert within the organization for accounting and audit related issues
  • Preparation of balance sheet forecasts

Qualification & Skills:

  • Completed Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) designation coupled with a degree in business
  • Minimum 3 to 5 years of experience in a financial reporting role in a high volume, large sized organization or a public accounting firm
  • Previous internal or external audit experience
  • Detailed understanding of accounting concepts and generally accepted accounting principles
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Demonstrated organizational, leadership, judgment, critical thinking and decision-making skills and strong attention to detail.
  • A self-starter with the ability to handle multiple job responsibilities, set priorities, problem solve and work with all levels of staff
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft applications
  • Experience working with SAP or another leading ERP system
  • Flexibility to work off-hours in time sensitive situations
  • Healthcare experience preferred
