Reports to the Director, Digital Development & Sales.
What you will do:
- Work with the Digital Delivery Center leadership team, developers, architects, consultants, managed service partners and other digital delivery team members and provide hands on development leadership to transform ideas into awesome sustainable digital applications using Nutrien’s agile development methodologies and the latest digital and cloud technologies
- Hands on oversight of application development teams including both project teams and onshore/offshore sustainment teams
- Provide lead developer level guidance with hands on code reviews and oversee technical architectures
- Define and govern application development standards and processes and establish best practices to guide digital development teams
- Partner with digital architects to define solution architectures for new digital apps and capabilities
- Provide efforts estimates, complexity level assessments and development team recommendations for new initiativesManage QA/Testing technologies, processes, standards, automations, and teams
- Work with Architects and DevOps teams to optimize CI/CD pipelines, blue-green/canary deployments, GitHub repos and related processes/tools
- Ensure code quality remains high, development practices remain mature (e.g.: code reviews) and release processes remain mature
- Manage digital app releases, legacy upgrades, and cloud migrations
- Work with product owners, scrum masters and leads to continuously improve and advocate for Nutrien’s agile practices
- Partner with Data, Integration, and Infrastructure teams to deliver application capabilities
- Work with Cyber Security to conduct threat risk assessments, pen-tests, and action remediations
- Oversee developer technical training requirements
- Research and recommend forward facing application development strategies and technologies with focus on cloud (emphasis on AWS)
What you will bring:
- Post-secondary degree from a recognized university in Software Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology, or similar field
- 10+ years of experience developing and supporting custom applications as a senior developer
- 3+ years in a technology leadership role managing applications or development teams
- Expert in agile development + demonstrated experience executing the full SDLC, performing code reviews and code quality analysis (e.g.: SonarQube), defining application standards and QA/Test automation
- Strong expertise utilizing AWS (or similar) cloud resources, serverless and micro-service orientated architectures, web development technologies (e.g.: React), GitHub and CI/CD tooling (e.g.: CircleCI)
- Experience integrating custom applications with enterprise ERPs (e.g.: SAP and Oracle) and other 3rd party services considered an asset
- Experience supervising or working with onshore/offshore managed service development teams considered an asset
- AWS or similar cloud certifications considered an asset
- High energy, outcome/results driven and a “jack of all trades” attitude
- Adaptable, flexible, and able to work in a fast-paced and self-directed start-up orientated enterprise environment
- Ability to manage tight deadlines, competing priorities and initiatives utilizing a wide variety of technology architectures
- Ability to think calmly in high stress environment, and perform under pressure
- Team player mentality with a willingness to learn, teach and share information with teammates, peers, and management
- Conducts themselves in a professional manner
