The salary range for this position is:

Recruitment range: $61,935 – $69,710 starting salary determined by the PEA .

Performance range: starting salary to max of $81,286 is available through annual performance increases.

Job Summary

Reporting to the Team Lead of the Media Services unit within Client Technologies (CLTE), the Media Analyst will be responsible for the coordination and implementation of videoconference facilities and services, audio-visual and videoconferencing technologies and services, tier 2-3 support escalations for these services, and creating and delivering training programs to faculty and staff. The Media Analyst acts as a technical resource to respond to questions and tickets coming from the Computer Help Desk (CHD), from CLTE Media Consultants, and for audio visual related procurement questions from the CHD/Technology Solutions Centre (TSC).

Media Analyst duties include:

  • Provide classroom technology assistance, training and support to instructors and staff using or supporting multi-access enabled classrooms, lecture-capture enabled classrooms, video conference rooms, and the Client Technologies Media Studio.
  • Training, development and support for advanced video recording, video production, and live webcasting services. This includes rich media creation and content delivery to promote their effective integration with online learning.
  • Live and virtual event support as an event manager or event support team member.
  • Provide tier 2-3 support for UVic enterprise video content management platforms as they relate to client support of video on demand or live streaming.
  • Work with CHD/TSC for procurement support and performing technical reviews prior to purchasing as per university policy.
  • Tracking progress in ticketing systems and documenting solutions in wiki or service catalogue and other web presences.
  • Develop and document best practices in the use of both software and hardware based classroom lecture capture services.

Responsibilities also include assisting with designing, overseeing the installation, and, commissioning of advanced classroom technologies.

Working with other senior staff in University Systems, the Media Analyst will lead or participate in technology projects where appropriate.

Periodic duties include providing backup support to other Media Services team members in their service delivery during sickness or other absences.

Job Requirements

The Media Analyst position requires a university degree relevant to this position, e.g. Film Studies or Applied Communications, and, at least 4 years of experience performing:

  • Design, implementation, and/or support of large, complex, classroom technology installations.
  • Implementing training and support structures for faculty, staff and junior co-workers.
  • Providing tutorials and technology knowledge transfer workshops to diversely skilled clients.

An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

Knowledge requirements include:

  • In-depth working knowledge of classroom technology and presentation hardware;
  • Crestron media control hardware and programming;
  • Rich media content production and manipulation using advanced software tools such as Creative Cloud apps especially Premiere Pro and Photoshop and Final Cut Pro.
  • Video conferencing and desktop collaboration software and hardware – Zoom, Teams etc.
  • Advanced working knowledge of computer and network operations for both Macintosh and Windows.
  • Rich media content delivery technologies and web site design (embed code).

Competency requirements include:

  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills especially the ability to convey technical information to a wide variety of community members including faculty, staff and students.
  • Excellent technical writing skills for authoring system administration and project documentation;
  • Proven experience in advanced systematic problem solving as well as demonstrated effective decision making.
  • Ability to demonstrate diplomacy, tact and patience while working with various clients.
  • Must have experience leading projects implementing and delivering audio and video services similar to the Media Services portfolio.

Assets:

  • Experience in a Canadian post-secondary multi-media or educational technology and teaching environment.
  • Technical Certifications such as ITIL, PMP, Crestron
