Job title: General Accountant

Job description: Robert Half is seeking an Accountant for a well renowned Non for Profit client. This is a full time/permanent position located in Ottawa.
Responsibilities:

-Reviews and approves detailed payroll journal entry prior to posting

-Performs accounting processes related to accounts receivable and revenue deferrals, including verifying and reconciling invoicing requirements for all journals including client publications, -processing credit card transactions, ensuring payments are correctly recorded and collections, and reviewing and reconciling banking activity.

-Maintains deferred revenue schedules and reconciles monthly

-Participates in process improvements and new system implementations especially those in support of CSPs transition to greater volume of open access revenues

-Interacts with customers to resolve any outstanding issues

-Maintains an accurate collections report

-Performs accounting processes related to Revenue recognition and accruals, including entering incoming wire transfers

-Updates Foreign Exchange rates in Great Plains, weekly and at month end

-Prepares necessary supporting documentation for annual audit and assists auditors as required during audit

-Assists Controller with preparation of month end reports and working papers

-Acts as a back up to payroll and accounts payable functions as needed

-Assists with configuration of Great Plains “GP” database, identifies, and executes necessary adjustments, reports software problems, and works to help resolve issues (with consultant and GP hosting supplier)

-Assists Director of Corporate Services with special projects and analyses as needed

-Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

-Three to seven years (3-7) relevant work experience,

-A university degree or accounting diploma and working towards a professional accounting designation

-Excellent organizational skills, a team player with strong work-ethic

-Strong attention to detail and ability to meet strict deadlines

-Exceptional Microsoft Excel skills; experience with Great Plains accounting software.
