Position: Security Guard – Screener

Site: St. Thomas Elgin General Hospital

Status: Part – Time (Temporary)

Hours: Weekends (0700-1500), Weekdays (1500- 2300)

Pay Rate: $16.16/hr.

Position Overview:

In this role you will work alongside hospital staff to ensure compliance of Covid Entry Protocols. Must hold a valid Ontario Security Guard Licence. All required PPE is provided, and you will be required to always wear a medical face mask.

  • Support security measures relative to hospital access policies in accordance with COVID19 protocols
  • Ensure safety and emergency procedures are followed
  • Direct visitors to appropriate areas, perform security checks, and liaise with visitors, customers, and the public.
  • Maintaining a positive, productive work environment through collaboration.

Preferred skills/qualifications:

  • Valid Ontario Security Guard licence (required)
  • Valid First Aid & CPR certificate
  • In this role, it is essential that you maintain integrity, clear written and oral communication skills, and maintain a high standard of customer service.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Be courteous and cooperative with a high quality of customer service.
  • Good interpersonal skills with the ability to interact effectively at various social levels and across diverse cultures.
  • Able to maintain a professional composure when dealing with unusual circumstances and people under conditions of urgency and in pressure situations.

Requirements:

  • Working knowledge of the Trespass to Property Act.
  • Able to maintain a professional composure when dealing with unusual circumstances and people under conditions of urgency and in pressure situations.
  • Excellent communication skills with a focus on customer service along with good computer abilities are all core requirements.
  • Superior written and verbal communication skills. Ability to write clear, concise, and legible reports.
  • Demonstrated punctuality and reliability, tact and diplomacy.
  • Patrol assigned area on foot, as assigned, to ensure personal, building, and equipment security.
  • Watch for and report irregularities by completing investigations and incident reports, such as security breaches, facility and safety hazards, and emergency situations; contact emergency responders, such as police, fire, and/or ambulance personnel, as required.
  • Sustain effective relationships with key stakeholders and provide specialized security services by enforcing rules and regulations when required.
  • Offer support to any person in need such as providing good customer service when providing a security presence, such as providing direction, responding to emergency situation involving violent individuals and injuries.
  • Perform miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.
