Job description: The Town of Minto is seeking a Permanent Full Time Drainage Superintendent The Town of Minto is well situated between the major centres of southern Ontario and popular recreational areas along the eastern shore of Lake Huron and southern Georgian Bay. This rural community with a population of approximately 9,000 is seeking a full-time Water/Wastewater Operator to join our Operations team. Reporting to the Roads & Drainage Manager, the Drainage Superintendent is responsible for the management of the municipal drain system for the Town of Minto, including all new drain construction and drain maintenance projects in compliance with the Drainage Act. This position may be shared with a neighbouring municipality. The Superintendent ensures the legal compliance and adequate construction, maintenance and assessment of municipal drains as well as providing technical/professional expertise regarding project work performed on municipal drains including open ditches and tile drains. This position may require working various shifts, including evenings and weekends. Normal hours of work for this position will be up to forty (40) hours per week. Location 5941 Highway 89, Harriston Ontario N0G 1Z0 Qualifications – Completion of the Drainage Superintendent Course through OMAFRA is considered an asset – Certification with the Ontario Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs as a Drainage Superintendent or willing to obtain – Civil Engineering Technology (CET) considered an asset. – Experience as a Drainage Superintendent or in a similar role is considered an asset. Compensation Minto offers competitive wages (2020 pay range $24.43 to $32.56 per hour, under review) within a positive and supportive work environment.
