Job description: As part of the provincial mental health services continuum, BC Mental Health & Substance Use Services (BCMHSUS) provides a diverse range of specialized, “one-of-a-kind” tertiary mental health and substance use services to adults across the province. These include services located at the Forensic Psychiatric Hospital and six regional clinics, the Red Fish Healing Centre for Mental Health & Addiction, and Heartwood Centre for Women. In addition to delivering these clinical services, BCMHSUS provides provincial leadership for system-wide improvement through its work in: health promotion and illness prevention; knowledge exchange; and research and academic teaching.

Coast Rehabilitation & Recovery Program

The Coast Rehabilitation & Recovery Program is a 40-bed facility that provides continued mental health and addiction support to clients who have completed treatment at the Red Fish Healing Centre for Mental Health and Addiction or the Heartwood Centre for Women. For some clients who have completed their treatment in those programs, it is helpful to “step down” into a less-intensive care program that offers ongoing support. This is helpful for patients or clients as they prepare to transition back into community-based care with their local health authority.

The interested physicians should be eligible for provisional or full licensure with CPSBC. It is mandatory for the applicant to be a member of the Canadian College of Family Physicians, or equivalent. Experience in addiction medicine is mandatory.
