A Day in the Life:

We are looking to hire a General Manager for a portfolio of 1 million plus square feet in downtown Toronto. The key responsibilities include:

  • Provide professional management and leadership to all direct/indirect reports to ensure the timely achievement of department goals, within prescribed policies, procedures, deadlines and standard business practices
  • Develop and implement strategies for increasing revenues and reducing operating expenses through demonstrated expertise in budget and capital planning, building operations and leasing support
  • Ensure properties are operated and maintained in a manner that is consistent with the annual financial plan and good real estate practice with particular emphasis on best-in-class client service, maintenance and property operations as well as accurate and timely reporting, health and safely and energy efficiency
  • Supervise the development of high-quality on-site teams (internal and external) through the implementation of effective recruitment, training, motivation and development programs
  • Develop long-term business and capital plans keeping in mind broad commitments and strategy extending beyond five years
  • Complete complex projects while ensuring the business objectives of our clients, client comfort, asset values and life safety are not compromised
  • Influence the direction of business decisions and obtain approvals in accordance with established guidelines
  • Implement and maintain environmental initiatives, policies and procedures in accordance with LEED Standards,
  • Prepare and deliver presentations and reports demonstrating a high degree of professionalism
  • Prepare and have full knowledge and understanding of financial and budget strategies
  • Promote new business partnerships for properties and investigate innovative and strategic opportunities
  • Seek and find compromise and alternative solutions to complex situations involving multiple parties and controversial or sensitive issues

Your Experience Includes:

  • Minimum five years’ commercial property management experience managing a downtown Toronto A Class Office Asset or commercial office portfolio
  • Real Estate designation such as CPM or RPA, Bachelor’s Degree
  • Detailed functional knowledge of commercial real estate financial planning, capital budgeting and reporting requirements
  • Detailed functional knowledge of construction management, contract negotiation, building operating procedures and physical plant issues (mechanical, structural and architectural)
  • Full knowledge of all regulatory requirements
  • Knowledge of general accounting practices within the framework of commercial real estate environment
  • A high level of expertise in lease negotiation and all aspects related thereto
