Wainwright is a vibrant and friendly community of around 7,000 located in east central Alberta on highway 14 and 41. Wainwright is a major service center for agriculture, oil and gas industries and is home to Canadian Forces Base Wainwright, which trains our National Defense personnel. Wainwright Continuing Care is located in a rural setting where Registered Nurses (RN)/RPN work within an interdisciplinary team environment to provide client centered care. The RN/RPN will be required to provide leadership, including direction, supervision, mentoring, constructive feedback and client care coordination to other professionals and unregulated staff. In this case, coordination role, the RN/RPN must have the ability to use critical thinking skills to plan, assess, implement and evaluate client-centered care. This environment is suitable for candidates who have a strong interest and skills in providing care to the elderly client, including those diagnosed with Alzheimer Disease or other dementias.
Description:
As a Registered Nurse (RN), you will provide a wide variety of nursing services to patients, families, communities and populations, while taking necessary steps to ensure their safety and well-being. In your role, you will utilize nursing processes, through critical thinking, problem solving and decision making, as well as teach, counsel and advocate on behalf of patients and their families. You will play a leadership role in supporting an integrated and holistic approach to patient care, health promotion and maintenance. You will provide safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of AHS.

Required Qualifications:
Completion of an accredited nursing education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support – Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP). Additional Required Qualifications:
Competence in relevant technical nursing skills and a willingness to learn new skills as required. Basic computer skills. Good communication skills and the ability to maintain effective interpersonal relationships. Demonstrated problem solving skills. Demonstrated ongoing responsibility for maintaining and continuing competence through professional development activities. The ability to work shift schedules. The ability to meet the physical demands of the job. Preferred Qualifications:
Recent gerontology nursing experience and/or education, Charge Nurse, and leadership training is an asset.
