Job Description: This position will provide leadership for workplace health and safety within the SHA (former Heartland Health Region). The ideal candidate will enjoy a hands-on approach working with staff to further develop their skills and within the organization to develop an effective safety management program. Able to build effective relationships with all regional safety partners, internal and external, the successful candidate will bring experience in safety prevention and be skilled in implementing safety improvement initiatives. The OHS Manager will report to the Quality & Safety Manager, Rural.

The Manager is responsible for the development and implantation of region-wide standards, guidelines and programs in compliance with the various federal, provincial and municipal legislations and statutes that govern the workplace to promote and support the reduction and limitation of loss and human suffering for health care organizations across the province. This position supports the region’s workplaces, programs and their staff in meeting their statutory responsibilities under the various statutes and legislation, and on their loss prevention initiatives.

Required Qualifications

Degree in occupational health and safety or hold a Canadian Registered Safety Professional (CRSP) designation and/or a certificate in Occupational Health & Safety or equivalent
Experience
A minimum of three (3) years of recent, progressively responsible experience in a related field with a developed knowledge of occupational health and safety legislation and incorporating adult learning principles; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Valid drivers license
Intermediate computer skil
