We are current seeking a Field Construction Technician at the IAMGOLD Cote Gold Site office near Gogama, ON.

Key Accountabilities/Activities

  • Assisting the Project Coordinator, Project Managers, Engineers and Technicians in fulfilling multi-disciplinary civil, geotechnical, environmental, and geosciences projects
  • Organizing and maintaining field equipment, as required;
  • Completion of field Soil Compaction Testing using a nuclear densometer;
  • Collection of concrete samples in the field and measurement of air content and slump;
  • Collect field samples (soil, water, rock, etc) and/or prepare laboratory samples as directed by the laboratory supervisor;
  • Conduct Vibrating Wire Piezometer (VWP) and Slope Inclinometer (SI) installations and readings;
  • Record test data and prepare factual reports, summaries or prepare data sheets or graphs for interpretation of test results by the supervisor;
  • Maintain records of data base, calibration certificates, equipment manuals and applicable standards;
  • Consistently executing prescribed technical procedures, safe work practices and work plans while completing field, laboratory and office work;
  • Ensuring environmental management, planning and regulatory compliance;
  • Generating and assisting with preparation of deliverable documentation such as technical reports, summaries, data sheets, graphs, proposals and qualification packages;
  • Handling difficult situations with tact and diplomacy to maintain positive working relationships with all internal and external contacts;
  • Assisting with networking initiatives to develop new business and client relationships;
  • Remaining current with new advancements in the field.

Qualifications

  • Understanding of and/or ability to learn provincial and federal regulatory requirements;
  • A valid “G” Drivers license with clean driving record is required; and

  • Familiar with heavy construction sites;
  • Able to handle multi-tasking and maintain focus in a busy work place; and
  • Able to meet tight deadlines and work well under pressure.
