SALARY: Temporary Support, Payband F, $28.28 – $32.78 per hour (35 hours per week)

What responsibilities will you have in this role?

  • Analyse and reconciles on a monthly basis the College’s U.S., and Manual Payroll cheques bank accounts.
  • Reviews the request of new restricted fund account, setup new GL fund account and keep the records of permanent documents.
  • Checks to ensure deposits and withdrawal transactions follow proper policies and procedures and have adequate supporting documentation.
  • Contacts bank and other departments on outstanding bank reconciliation items and international student fees,
  • Reviews incoming interac email transfers deposits, prepares bank deposits of cheques and record accounting entry to FAST.
  • Analysis and reconcile on a monthly basis of all College endowment and restricted fund accounts.
  • Review and assess the requirement of certification of donation, record donations and issue donation receipts as per CRA guidelines.
  • Reviews, verifies, Input daily, weekly and monthly journal entries to FAST.
  • Responsible for preparing bank deposits for all monies received for all campuses.
  • Prepares journal entries related to bank deposits.
  • Reviews daily incoming USD wire transfers to assist Accounts Receivable, International Centre and Distance Education departments in timely posting of payments received from students and vendors.
  • Reconciles liquidation of all College petty cash and cash floats, and input transactions to FAST.
  • Reviews, verifies, decides on cheques validity in Scotiabank daily ECS report.
  • Leads the process improvement in processing of internal expense/revenue transfers to Millennium FAST JV system to enhance and digitalized Financial Services operations.
  • Back up in the posting of payroll entries, analysis and posting of residence and investment JVs in FAST.
  • Additional duties taken on as new technologies and/or systems are adopted by the College.
  • Other duties as assigned.

What qualifications do you need for this role?

  • Three year Diploma or Degree or equivalent from a recognized post secondary institution in Accounting.
  • Completion or enrollment in a recognized accounting designation (i.e., CPA) or similar accounting designation.
  • Minimum three years of experience working with computerized accounting systems; specific experience preparing and maintaining bank deposits and reconciliation.
  • Advanced skills in the use of Microsoft Office applications, including analyzing and developing Excel for data manipulation with knowledge of Access.
  • Demonstrated proficiency and in depth understanding of Banner Finance, understanding of College’s year-end processes and accounting procedures.
  • Must have excellent interpersonal, customer service and problem-solving skills to deal with students, staff, external stakeholders, department heads or budget holders/managers.
  • Ability to provide guidance and training to others, i.e., Financial Services staff.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills; ability to cope under pressure associated with the management of numerous high-volume tasks in a busy service environment; high level of analytical skills, accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Combination of superior written and verbal communication skills and strong numerical abilities.
  • Effective ability to interact with others and deal with situations in ways that respect diverse backgrounds, experience, and styles.
  • Strong work ethic demonstrated in previous roles with a commitment to delivering excellent service to others as this is key in supporting the success of our students and our College.
  • Highly creative, innovative, proactive and team orientated.
  • Strong organizational, analytical and critical thinking skills; along with experience dealing with complex issues are required.
  • Flexibility in adapting to change and in participating in consultative decision-making processes.

Hours of Work: 9:00 pm – 5:00 pm
Ability to work overtime at peak periods
Interview process may consist of a practical skills component.
