Addiction Services Edmonton is looking to recruit an experienced and skilled Addiction and Mental Health Therapist to join our team. The successful candidate will be an integral part of a multi-disciplinary team that provides quality client focused, recovery based, concurrent capable, culturally appropriate care to those seeking assistance/services at Addiction Services Edmonton. The Mental Health Therapist will provide a range of services for individuals with concurrent mental health and addictions concerns, including community based intake, assessment, care planning, treatment, case management, crisis intervention and group facilitation. The Mental Health Therapist will continue to facilitate mental health capacity, building amongst the interdisciplinary team at ASE. Effective collaboration with families, other care providers, and a range of stakeholders is required. Recovery oriented care principles and trauma informed care are utilized in service provision for all clients. About Addiction Services Edmonton Addiction Services Edmonton is an outpatient addiction and mental health clinic located in the heart of downtown Edmonton that serves clients from across the Edmonton Zone. Our clients: Adults who are at various stages of change with respect to substance use, gambling, sex addiction, process addiction and concurrent mental health concerns. In addition to our active self-referred walk-in service, clients access our services via other mental health clinics, inpatient treatment, primary care networks, and other community partners. Our programs: This clinic offers walk-in screening/assessment, individual addiction counselling, group support and treatment, psychiatric consultation and a 3-week day treatment program.

Description:

As the Mental Health Therapist, you will be required to perform the restricted activity of psychosocial intervention utilizing a variety of treatment modalities (individual, family, group) to persons experiencing significant mental health difficulties. Working both independently and as a member of a collaborative multidisciplinary team, you will provide evidence informed and best practices in crisis intervention, assessment, consultation, referral, case management and treatment.

Required Qualifications:

Completion of one of the following programs: master’s degree in Psychology; master’s degree in Social Work (clinical specialization) including education in mental health assessment and psychotherapy; master’s degree in Occupational Therapy including training and experience in mental health assessment and provision of psychotherapy; master’s degree in Nursing and Psychiatric Nursing including training and experience in mental health assessment and provision of psychotherapy; Active or eligible for registration with the applicable regulatory college. Additional Required Qualifications:

At least 3 years experience working in an addiction and mental health setting. Experience working with individuals with both addictions and mental health concerns. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Demonstrated ability to incorporate the principles of recovery-oriented, trauma-informed and/or anti-oppressive practice into working with individuals living with mental health and substance use concerns. Demonstrated ability to work with individuals from a harm reduction perspective. Preferred Qualifications:

Experience providing 1:1 counselling for adults in a community setting. Experience delivering group treatment in an addiction and mental health setting. Knowledge of Edmonton and area addiction and mental health resources. Additional formal training in CBT, DBT, group psychotherapy, family therapy or other evidence-based therapy.
