Job Summary

The Manager, Corporate Finance will support the Global Finance management team in the preparation of all management, financial and regulatory reporting. This role is responsible for overseeing the day to day operations of the Accounting department and ensuring the accuracy and integrity of the financial records to be used for corporate reporting of financial results.

Job Responsibilities

  • Lead the Accounting team in the financial month end closing process for Apotex group of companies. Prepare various sets of financial statements for management and legal reporting.
  • Ensure all accounting and financial reporting activities of the Accounting department are completed accurately and on time.
  • Prepare financial analysis for monthly and quarterly reporting packages. Work collaboratively with various teams in Global Finance.
  • Ensure all Balance Sheet reconciliations and supporting P&L schedules are done in a timely manner
  • Monitor and analyse monthly financial and non-financial information received to identify important trends and potential problem areas. Proactively highlight areas of concern and escalates issues to senior management as needed.
  • Participate in company-wide budgeting process.
  • Oversee and co-ordinate financial reporting activities with external auditors. Participate in management discussions regarding appropriate accounting treatment.
  • Oversee other governmental audits including HST, QST, NRT and tax recovery engagements.
  • Support the year-end tax return process, through preparation of tax schedules and responding to information requests of the Director of Taxation.
  • Participate and lead performance conversations with employees, including monthly one on ones, to connect on performance; check in on employee’s progress toward achieving Objectives, offer support and remove barriers; and, communicate and revisit performance expectations to reinforce and encourage high performance culture and a safe working environment for all employees.
  • Utilize open, honest, two-way communication to build trust-based relationships with employees, business partners and direct leader while continuously improving leadership capabilities by personally seeking feedback and development.

Job Requirements

  • Education
  • University degree and a recognized accounting designation (CPA or equivalent)
  • Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Strong knowledge of financial and accounting practices, standards and regulatory guidelines
  • Advanced knowledge of federal/provincial tax laws and regulations
  • Ability to remain calm under pressure and multitask in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong analytical skills and high attention to detail
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills and the ability to develop strong working relationships with key stakeholders
  • Experience
  • 5+ years senior level financial experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably pharmaceutical
  • Demonstrated leadership and expertise in corporate financial management
  • Experience in a large global company preferred

Strong technical proficiency in all aspects of MS Windows – particularly Excel and PowerPoint.
