This position will be responsible to provide sound financial management to support the attainment of strategic goals and key business plans of the organization; provide performance analytics; prepare operations, capital budgets and forecasts to the various stakeholders; and play an instrumental role in the financial future of the company.
This role is pivotal to the development and leadership over the analysts and to ensure the continuity of reporting, analysis and business support of this complex business. Areas of support include philanthropy, social enterprise, program delivery, business support services, Deafblind Community Services, VLRC Services, and other customers.
Job Duties:
- Provides sound financial and strategic guidance and support to the functional operations of the Organization.
- Provides strong team leadership and development skills of a team of analysts.
- Provides historical financial and non-financial data and future trends; analyze and compare results; and forecasting.
- Based on organization objectives, provides support to the other team members in developing the operating and capital budgets.
- Liaises with functional directors, managers and all other stakeholders in support of operational goals and provide financial information.
- Prepares complex government and other funding grants and provide guidance to the supporting staff.
- Provide reports on key divisional performance indicators and their efficiency and effectiveness.
- Prepares auditing working papers and supporting documents for multiple business entities.
- Provides support to the Director and other finance leaders to achieve current and long-range objectives, strategies and policies for the organization
- Manages finance activities in accordance with the established policies and objectives of the organization.
- Monitors and evaluates departmental operating results on a timely basis and recommends operating tactics to address financial issues to various stakeholders.
- Ability to provide strategic solutions to complicated problems in a timely manner.
- Ensures team tasks and goals are carried out in a timely fashion to meet organizational goals.
- Consults Director on issues that are more complex and may require upper level approval.
- Facilitates and enhances team efforts on a professional level and shares specialized knowledge, sources, experience, concepts, and skills.
- Provides leadership and direction to departmental team on work related duties and issues.
- Participates in special projects, audit committee meetings for small business entities, management team meetings, and other related tasks as required.
Requirements
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS
- Demonstrates their ability to manage business counterpart expectations, to provide proactive support and guidance. To be a true-business partner and not just a bean-counter.
- To roll-up their sleeves to develop and lead a team of analysts.
- To have a genuine curiosity to explore, understand, refine and enhance current processes and challenge status quo (with respect).
- Have a proven track record of successful multitasking and providing accurate and timely results.
- Ability to communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders
- Takes initiative to keep abreast of issues related to finance operations in general.
- Strong knowledge of accounting theories and principles and exceptional expertise in management of financial operations
- Ability to process information and draw conclusions in order to provide continuous quality improvement
- Excellent written and verbal skills
- Has completed and acquired their CPA designation
- Knowledge of Canadian accounting standards and principles
- Knowledge of Canadian statutory requirements for non-profit and charity organizations
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a changing environment
- Must have 7 plus years of accounting and finance experience.
- Strong analytical and strategic-thinking skills
- Well-developed interpersonal and communications skills
- Proficiency in advanced excel and word and other MS Office applications. Other applications such as Sequel, Access would be an asset.
- Proficient in NetSuite Accounting System, and has other systems experience such as Sage, Concur SAP, ADP Workforce Now, Salesforce.
- Ability to use collaborative skills to solve multi faceted problems
- Willingness to work flexible hours and occasional travel may be required.
QUALIFICATIONS
