Campus: St. George (Downtown) Description: “Course Description: The main objectives of this course are to help students understand what an auditor does; to explain how, where and why audits are conducted: and, most importantly, to acquaint students with the limitations of an audit. We do this by highlighting basic objectives, and key concepts and assumptions used to help achieve those objectives. Many of these are incorporated in professional standards, but many have not yet been. By the end of the course, students should be able to understand the context and process of auditing well enough to assist in the audit at an introductory level, and to understand the nature of the audit function in firms well enough that they can decide whether they wish to pursue a career in public accounting. Position Description: All normal duties related to the design, administration and teaching of a university credit course, including preparation and delivery of course content; supervision of teaching assistants; development, administration and marking of assignments, tests and examinations; calculation and submission of grades to university officials; holding regular student office hours and maintaining reasonable availability for student contact. ”

Qualification: Required qualifications a PhD in accounting or a Canadian CPA and professional experience in professional accounting firm and/or industry; previous experience teaching Assurance at the university level in a degree granting program. Preferred qualifications are proven teaching excellence; demonstrated mastery of subject area and recent scholarly or professional experience in assurance and other related accounting fields.

Class Schedule: Courses may be online or in-person depending on the circumstances, so candidates must be available and comfortable with both.
