Reporting to the CEO, the Director, Finance Transformation will oversee and be accountable for the Agency’s overall transformation success by implementing proper governance on the portfolio of programs, ensuring interdependencies are managed, proper status and progress are communicated, and a holistic, agency-wide approach to change management is implemented.

In this one-year contract position, the Director, Finance Transformation will liaise with the Board and participate in Board meetings; work with the Chair of the Finance Audit and Risk Committee and other Board committees as required on responsibilities related to Finance Transformation; undertake and update the Risk portfolio for the agency; for Finance Transformation items you will be responsible for the related annual audit working papers and the work required to assist the annual audit; implement, develop and maintain a new Financial related Systems (ERP and others); ensure the completion of all administrative duties related to the Finance Transformation Department, and assist the Agency in setting up all Finance related sections in a residential property management system.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Manage the transformation of the financial activities of the Agency:

  • Identify and implement process improvements related to finance transformation and new initiatives.
  • Lead the initiative to select and implement a modern financial system.
  • Identify and develop systems, procedures, and protocols for the finance systems.
  • Steer and lead the framework on agile methodologies on finance transformation, process improvement techniques, process mapping and quality assurance practices (e.g., quarterly reviews, annual scorecard assessment, etc.) to create capacity and increase scalability, increase organizational agility and responsiveness to change.
  • Drive process definition, improvement, and gap analysis of current/future-state processes.
  • Lead the initiative to select and implement a modern property management system.
  • Perform root cause analysis/identify process gaps and apply the appropriate methodologies to deliver redesigns and meet business needs.
  • Manage conflicting priorities with stakeholders, prioritize initiatives to allocate strategic funding, and review resource capacity to best align in maximizing the value of the finance program execution.
  • Design processes and assist in identifying controls needed to ensure sufficient accuracy and completion.
  • Develop training materials and procedural documentation and host training sessions to ensure successful adoption and consistent application of new processes and effective usage of new tools across with a specific focus on informing, planning and process improvement.
  • Leads intake meetings, prioritizes projects, identifies risks and provides recommendations, including identifying key intervention points to formulate plans as necessary.
  • Report on a regular basis regarding the Agency’s status on finance transformation and new initiatives.
  • Remain up-to-date and knowledgeable on Property Management and new initiative issues and regulations about the Agency facilities that may have a direct impact on financial resources and planning of the organization.
  • Actively managing program scope, timeline, and resources to reduce program risks and escalate and resolve issues on a timely basis to meet deadlines.
  • Work with the Director, Real Estate and Property Management to ensure all financial and risk elements of that department are managed.

Oversee transformation of Fees, Billings, Accounts Receivable and Reporting functions:

  • Develop a plan to migrate Billing and Receivables from ADAGIO to new ERP and other Finance systems.
  • Work with Core Finance to develop modern workflows related to revenues and receivables.
  • Develop best-in-class Agency and divisional reporting of revenues and receivables.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • A CPA, CGA, or university degree in business administration, finance, accounting, or a related field or equivalent senior-level financial experience and a PMP is considered an asset.
  • 8-10 years of experience in Finance with emphasis on Property Management and Financial Systems Migration
  • Strong Business Acumen and strategic mindset
  • Ability to oversee and manage teams.
  • Experience with budgets, accounting, and reporting systems
  • Effective attention to detail and a high degree of accuracy
  • Ability to build and maintain lasting internal and external relationships.
  • High level of proficiency with Microsoft Office productivity suite
  • Knowledge and experience with office operational equipment
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with a strong ability to exchange knowledge.
  • Strong verbal and written English language communication skills; fluency in additional languages relevant to the Agency’s communities of service will be considered an asset.
  • Must be legally able to work in Canada.
  • Able to provide a Vulnerable Sector Screening check with a ‘Clear’ or satisfactory result that meets the Agency’s operational requirements.
  • Must have up-to-date vaccinations for COVID-19 with a vaccine that has been approved for use in Canada.
