A full service, award-winning Architecture & Design firm with an office in Vancouver, is hiring for an experienced intermediate architect or designer. This company is well established with multiple offices across Western Canada. THE JOB

The advanced intermediate architect / designer exhibits a full understanding of all aspects of the design and project delivery process at an advanced intermediate level. Responsibilities will include working with the client and / or consultants with the support of the project lead.

The intermediate architect / designer will work on multiple projects and/or lead small projects with an assigned team and will have autonomy in the design as well as the day-to-day progress and advancement of the project. Leading toward the senior level, this intermediate architect / designer is expected to troubleshoot, and problem solve project related issues as they arise, and consult the project lead and/or other senior level team members for assistance for unusual / complicated issues.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Development of conceptual design options for discussion by the design team
  • Prepare drawings, models, visuals, graphics, and other documents relating to the project design as supported by the project lead.
  • Assist in programming aspects of the project design as supported by the project lead
  • Coordinate and administer client and / or consultant meetings as supported by the project lead
  • Prepare project presentations including drawings and sketches
  • Prepare and assist as needed in the preparations of illustrations of the scale and character of a project
  • Work on multiple projects as supported by the project lead.
  • Lead other team members on various aspects of the project and delegate tasks.
  • Work on smaller projects independently as supported by the project lead.
  • Assist in the development of project work plans, schedules, and budgets
  • Liaise with authorities having jurisdiction as required for approval processes as supported by the project lead
  • Prepare required documentation for clients and / or consultants as required as supported by the project lead
  • Assist in the coordination and implementation of information from consultants
  • Assist in the development of construction documentation development with the technical team
  • Participating in business development initiatives such as Request for Proposals, Fee Proposals, etc.
  • Participating in the review of monthly client and consultant invoices
  • Mentor and facilitate development of Junior Design staff
  • May be required to provide support or assist with various tasks at various skills levels as may be required for project and / or firm success

REQUIREMENTS

The ideal candidate will have the following credentials;

  • Proficiency in Revit, AutoCAD, MS Office Suite, Bluebeam REVU, Adobe Creative Suite, Sketch-Up
  • Understanding of all phases of design delivery process and how they are interconnected
  • Intermediate understanding of project management functions
  • Strong understanding of building, fire, energy codes & building envelope & specifications
  • Good knowledge of construction principles & local authority process
  • Excellent time management, organizational skills & problem-solving ability
  • Collaborative nature with the want to help others succeed
