BURNCO has a fantastic opportunity for a Manager, IT Infrastructure based out of our corporate headquarters in Calgary, Alberta. Reporting to our Director Infrastructure Operations and Data Analytics, you will drive the transformation of BURNCO’s infrastructure, network, and technology assets from onsite data centers to leading-edge solutions, whether cloud-based or otherwise, across BURNCO’s North American footprint. As Manager you will offer a strategic mindset, bringing comprehensive and forward-looking ideas that enhance and integrate with BURNCO’s broader technology and academic plans.
WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING
- Overseeing the design, implementation and maintenance of BURNCO’s network infrastructure, data center and cloud infrastructure.
- Ensuring the availability, performance and scalability of BURNCO’s technology systems
- Managing day-to-day activities and planning of network and data center / cloud engineers and technicians team
- Developing and implementing policies and procedures for network, data center / cloud management
- Monitoring and analyzing network and data center / cloud performance and capacity
- Maintaining and verifying annually the team’s Disaster Recovery Plan
- Maintaining and maturing IT standards, guiding principles, and architecture reference models and ensuring teams follow standard architecture, design and governance processes
- Direct the planning, financing, implementation, and maintenance of BURNCO’s infrastructure, including:
- Providing technical expertise (i.e., tactical, and operational) on evaluation, selection, implementation, and maintenance of information systems
- Partnering with the IT management team on strategic technology initiatives and projects to forecast costs, equipment, and resources. Understand the trade-off and risks associated with technical debt
- Establishing and monitoring the infrastructure metrics to track productivity, quality, service levels, and resource utilization, to collect the voice-of-the-customer data, and to enable projects to be on schedule and within budget
- Other duties may be assigned by the Director I&O, as required
WHAT WE WOULD LIKE FROM YOU
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, business, or a related discipline
- Master’s degree in information technology, or business-related discipline is an asset.
- 10+ years of relevant and progressive professional experience, with 5 years in a leadership role
- Minimum 5 years demonstrating leadership qualities or overseeing deliverables, including:
- Experience in building organizational capabilities in staff, tools, and process
- Experience driving cross-functional collaboration and transformation in a large corporate environment
- Experience in production/application support, enhancements, and the project lifecycle
- Solid Experience deploying best in class infrastructure methodologies including high availability and agile innovation, creating infrastructure as “a center of expertise” and “as a service”
- Expert level network and server experience in datacenter and office designs and operations, using current best practices and tools with major cloud providers including AWS, and Azure
- Excellent communication, facilitation and collaboration skills
- Demonstrated project management, pro-active risk management, and problem/incident ownership skills with ability to multi-task
- Delivery focus and professionalism in dealing with all levels of management and staff
- Ability to legally and frequently travel across Canada and to US operations, as required
