The NAIT Respiratory Therapy Program, in the School of Health Sciences, has a Permanent part-time instructor (0.5 FTE) opening on their team at the Edmonton campus. The successful candidate will be an energetic leader of students, have well-developed communication, interpersonal and organizational skills, be committed to student motivation and achievement, work independently within established policies, be dedicated to a service model, and work cooperatively as a team member.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare and present learning outcomes and activities in a classroom, lab and/or clinical setting
- Manage instructional delivery and set the tone and climate for a safe and effective learning environment
- Evaluate the learning process
- Provide early and on-going coaching and tutoring for students to maximize student success and retention
- Respond to student issues
- Utilize appropriate educational technology for presentations, communications and program promotions
- Maintain professional and ethical relationships with students and colleagues
- Actively participate in business plan objectives as identified by the institute
- Utilize regular student feedback to identify and implement instructional improvement
- Improve the quality of instruction through professional development activities
- Attend staff meetings
Qualifications:
- A minimum of a Diploma in Respiratory Therapy from a recognized post-secondary institute with several years of related experience is required.
- A related Bachelor’s degree is preferred.
- Must be registered or eligible for registration with the College of Respiratory Therapists of Alberta (CRTA).
- Basic computer skills are required.
- Experience in delivery of adult education is desirable.
Remuneration: Will commensurate with education and experience, plus a comprehensive benefits package.
Instructor salary grid $32,497.40 – $56,531.93 annually. However, starting salary for new hires averages between $39,364.26 – $42,797.69 annually (based on an 18.125 work week) based on education and experience with room for negotiations. (Classification – Instructor).
This position is covered by the NAIT Academic Staff Association (NASA) Collective Agreement
