About the Role

The HR Generalist is a key role in the People, Finance, and Ops team and works cross-functionally at MistyWest to manage top-level people strategy, talent acquisition, human resources, professional development, workplace policy, culture, community and internal events.

The HR Generalist has the ability to develop and implement the full scope of people-facing activities in the organization. They will work closely with the leadership team to deliver key outcomes to assist MistyWest in achieving our long-term goals, mission & vision.

Accountabilities

The role is primarily accountable for (but does not necessarily always execute):

  • Hiring great Westies, contractors, and co-ops
  • On/offboarding new and departing Westies, contractors and co-ops
  • Owning and improving our current compensation system
  • Overseeing employee benefits, leaves, and other personal requests
  • Developing and leading performance review cycles
  • Leading professional development initiatives
  • Developing, updating, and managing MistyWest’s corporate policies
  • Continuing to foster a culture led by our values
  • Celebrating Westies accomplishments, birthdays, and anniversaries
  • Planning and hosting internal events (holiday party, Halloween party, annual retreat, team celebrations, workshops and Lunch and Learns)
  • Approving time and expense sheets on a weekly basis
  • Capturing and analyzing People Analytics to fuel data-driven decision making

Requirements

These are the applicable education, required skills and competencies this candidate brings to the role.

  • 4 year Bachelor’s Degree
  • CHPR or equivalent experience
  • 5-10 years of work experience in human resources
  • Proven track record of successfully progressing through the different areas of human resources at a similar size organization
  • Experience building a performance management system and implementing it through change management
  • Expert level communications skills
  • Ability to prioritize effectively
  • Strong commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion
  • High level of professional discretion and knowledge of BC Employment Standards & best practices
  • Awesomeness

Nice to have

  • Previous experience working at a consultancy firm
  • Experience planning internal events such as holiday parties, retreat, team celebrations, workshops, Lunch & Learns.
