Job description: Your Opportunity:

Under the supervision of the Calgary Eating Disorder Program (CEDP) Manager, and in collaboration with a multi-disciplinary team, the Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) will provide professional Nursing care to individuals who have an eating disorder and their families. Primary responsibilities include medical & mental health monitoring and assessment; as well as facilitating group therapy and meal support therapy. The Licensed Practical Nurse – Eating Disorder Program position is based on PCU 32 at the FMC.

Description:

As a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN), you are part of an interprofessional health care team utilizing nursing processes, critical thinking, problem solving and decision making skills. You will be guided by your education, experience, demonstrated skill level and AHS policies and procedures. You will play a key role in providing safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of AHS.

Required Qualifications:

Completion of an accredited practical nurse education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Licensed Practical Nurses of Alberta (CLPNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support – Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP). Additional Required Qualifications:

Experience in acute inpatient or outpatient mental health, preferable with patients who have an eating disorder, and their families. Experience in facilitating group therapy. Experience dealing with the medical complications that could arise with eating disorders and be able to provide treatment as directed, assess potential difficulties, and respond to medical emergencies. Skills in psychiatric, and medical assessment and crisis intervention. Excellent interpersonal skills. Demonstrated ability to maintain collaborative working relationships with patients, families, and team members. Experience working on a multi-disciplinary team. Preferred Qualifications:

Experience working in Mental Health and/or acute medicine experience. Experience working on a multi-disciplinary team. Experience in acute care setting. Familiarity with Connect Care.
