Job description: Dean Group is currently looking for a Manager of Community and Events for a reputable client in Waterloo.
Location: Waterloo, ON
Pay Rate: Approx. $36.00/hr
Hours: 35hours a week/work schedule: 8:30am – 4:30pm
Contract Length: 1-year contract
The role of Manager of Community and Events is pivotal, acting as the driving force behind campus atmosphere and unforgettable student experience. This role is to ensure student groups and societies have the necessary resources and guidance.
Manager of Student Groups job duties:
- Responsible for overall program management, including development and planning.
- Execute community and large-scale events.
- Support coordination with major aspects of event logistics, including vendor coordination, venue selection, and on-site management.
- Implement improvements as required to enhance event planning.
- Conduct evaluations, gather feedback from stakeholders and prepare reports to measure success.
- Collaborate with relevant stakeholders to secure resources, funding, and support for new initiatives and strategic projects.
- Develop operational plans, outlining strategic objectives and priorities to guide the department’s growth.
- Collaborate with Student Groups, their leaders and staff to develop communities and enrich the student experience.
- Oversee staff and volunteers’ performance, including setting clear goals, and providing feedback to support growth.
- Efficiently allocate staff resources to ensure adequate coverage and optimal performance in various departments and projects.
- Recruit, onboard, and manage part-time staff and volunteers.
- Promote a positive work environment and employee well-being, addressing staff concerns and providing necessary support.
- Manage program budgets and activity-based risk managements.
- Develop and maintain accurate financial forecasting and monitor budget performance.
- Oversee the preparation and presentation of annual budget.
- Demonstrate expertise in financial processes, including financial reporting and analysis.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Post-secondary degree in event planning, recreation and leadership or other relevant experience.
- 5+ years of experience within event management, preferably in non-profit or post-secondary environment.
- Extremely high level of organizational skill
- Strong human relation skills
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Technical skills are required.
- Ability to multi-task in changing environments
- Strong problem-solving skills and analytical thinking
