Course Description: Real estate assets account for about one-third of the value of all capital assets in the world. An understanding of real estate investment is, therefore, important no matter what line of business a student plans to be in. This course provides students with a comprehensive understanding of real estate valuation, house price dynamics, real estate brokerage, real estate liabilities, decision-making and public policies associated with real estate investment, using modern finance and economics tools. Topics include residential and commercial real estate investment, mortgage financing and pricing, brokerage, credit crunch and international real estate. Academic lectures are supplemented by a series of case discussion.

Position Description: All normal duties related to the design, administration and teaching of a university credit course, including preparation and delivery of course content; supervision of teaching assistants; development, administration and marking of assignments, tests and examinations; calculation and submission of grades to university officials; holding regular student office hours and maintaining reasonable availability for student contact.

Previous experience teaching Real Estate Finance and Investment, or a closely related course at a post-secondary institution in a degree granting program and real estate industry experience required. A relevant bachelor’s degree (e.g., B.Comm. Or bachelors degree in economics is required), and a relevant master’s degree (e.g., MBA, masters in planning, masters in real estate, masters in economics) is strongly preferred. Proven excellence in teaching is also strongly preferred.

Class schedule: Course may be online or in person, depending on circumstances, so candidates must be available and comfortable with both.

Sessional dates of appointment: January 1, 2022 – April 30, 2022 Salary:
Rate of pay inclusive of 4% vacation pay (0.5 Full-Course Equivalent)
