The Department of Medicine in the Cumming School of Medicine, University of Calgary and Alberta Health Services (http://www.albertahealthservices.ca) invites applications for a Contingent term position in general internal medicine and medical education, with a particular focus in evaluation and scholarly work in undergraduate medical education, at the Assistant Professor level.
Qualifications required include a MD, certification in Internal Medicine, eligibility for regular licensure in the Province of Alberta, and sub-specialty training in General Internal Medicine. An advanced research degree such as a Master’s degree in Education is also required. The successful candidate will be involved in medical education scholarship and leadership and would participate in teaching at the University of Calgary in undergraduate, graduate and postgraduate clinical and academic programs. The position will have 60% protected time for medical education scholarship and leadership, as well as teaching. Duties will include providing clinical care to patients as part of their membership within the Section/Division of General Internal Medicine.
Applicants must present evidence of early success as a medical educator and scholar, as demonstrated through early academic productivity in terms of presentations, publications and project funding. They should also have evidence of leadership in the area of undergraduate medical education. Evidence of successful teaching and/or graduate supervision would be an asset. Evidence of collaborations with other medical education scholars and academic engagement in professional and other communities will be assessed.
