My client designs, manufactures, packages, distributes and offers customer support for their very well-known product. They have distribution sites world-wide. At the Canadian head office in Oakville, they warehouse, package and distribute their product across Canada.
This Accounting Manager role is stand alone, there are no direct reports, you would be solely responsible for the Canadian financials and reporting including analyzing financial information, preparing financial reports to determine or maintain record of assets, liabilities, profit and loss and tax liability. Prepare various internal reports for management. There is one support staff that processes Accounts Payable, Receivables and cash receipts.

Responsibilities:
- Responsible for the accounting and finance procedures for the Canadian operations
- Responsible for the development of policies and systems
- Advise management on fiscal procedures
- Ensure compliance with financial procedures
- Design and implement process improvements to support business growth
- Review accounts payable and receivables, cash receipts and sub-ledger reconciliations to the general ledger
- Maintain general ledger and prepare weekly and monthly adjusting journal entries and bank entries
- Financial reporting – balance sheets, p&l statements
- Investigate budget and variance issues
- Analyze trends, costs, revenues and ensure proper classification
- Budget reporting monthly for each department manager
- Reporting schedules to auditors
- Offer suggestions about policy and procedure, tax strategy and budget forecasts
- Coordinate business insurance and certificates of insurance
- Maintain fixed asset schedule, depreciation schedule, reconcile inventory report of assets and write off.
- GST/HST reporting
Job Requirements
Qualifications:
- CPA designation or close to completion
- Canadian GAAP experience
- Minimum 5 years hands on manager level experience
- Advanced Excel and ERP system experience is mandatory, Microsoft D365 is a bonus
- Strong experience with budgets, P&L and ability to create cost models
- Ability to work independently while cross collaborating with inter-departments
- Strong multi-tasking and presentation abilities
