ROLE PROPOSITION

The Accounting Supervisor is the operational lead within the Accounting Department, with oversight for the hotel and departmental financial reporting, analysis and record keeping. Reporting to the Director of Finance, the Accounting Supervisor is a key resource for the hotel Leadership team, providing insights and ongoing data analysis to enable decision-making as it relates to budgetary management.

With a background in accounting, coupled with experience leading a small team, the Accounting Supervisor role at Sun Peaks Grand will provide the successful candidate with the opportunity to round out their professional experience within the tourism and hospitality sector. This role is particularly suited to an accounting /finance professional with a love of the outdoors.

ACCOUNTABILITIES

• Oversee internal management reporting / analysis with ongoing financial data interpretation and monitoring of departmental budgets
• Administer capital and operational budgets and variance analysis
• Assist with accurate record keeping of monthly inventories
• Complete all banking related tasks, including bank reconciliation
• Prepare internal and external financial statements and reports; primarily using Sage and Excel
• In conjunction with the Director of Finance, oversee the performance of all Accounting team members, including training, coaching, reviews and development /growth opportunities
• Prepare for Year-End audit – including comprehensive preparation of all client-supporting documentation for external auditors
• In consultation with the team, responsible for the ongoing development and improvement of new process maps that enhance interdepartmental communication and efficiencies

Job Requirements/Qualifications:

• 3-5 years’ experience in full cycle accounting, with a minimum of 2 years’ experience in supervisory role
• Must be working towards accounting designation and/or completion of diploma/degree
• Strong hands-on working knowledge of Sage and Excel
• Detail-oriented and a motivated self-starter
• Able to multi-task in a fast-paced environment
• Bondable
• Previous hotel or hospitality experience is an asset
• Dedicated to working within a dynamic team that focuses on collaboration
