Job Description

Part of the Corporate Actuarial department, the Research and Development team participates in various projects with respect to the liability valuation, strategic planning, capital and risk management team for General Insurance.

The Corporate Actuarial – Research and development team is task with:

  • Supporting the team in the valuation of liabilities by investigating upcoming reserving techniques (individual claims reserving, deep triangle, Taylor-McGuire)
  • Developing and testing new features of existing tools, participate in deployment and ensure sufficient controls are in place
  • Participation in various analysis, such as profitability analysis of different segments of TD insurance portfolio
  • Collaboration with different stakeholders in the company like Finance, Pricing and Claims operation amongst other

In the role, the candidate will have to:

  • Partake in implementation of individual claims reserving methods
  • Create and maintain well-structured reusable tools
  • Assimilate research papers and demonstrate applicability to business use
  • Explain highly complex problem in a comprehensive way
  • Sharing information with various parties (colleagues and client)
  • Develop detailed execution plan, manage external client deliverable and rigorously track the progress of multiple projects
  • Coach, develop and inspire colleagues toward reaching new goals and becoming tomorrow’s leader

Requirements
Minimum requirement

  • Bachelors or Master’s degree in Actuarial, mathematics, statistics or Data science.
  • Experience in Analytics, Statistical Analysis
  • Experience in P&C insurance
  • Experience in Actuarial Reserving
  • Working toward designation of ACAS or FCAS
  • Advance technical skills (ex.: R, Python, Tableau or other programming languages)
  • Excellent communication skills (both written and verbal) in English & French

Preferred requirement

  • Ease to learn new programing languages, software and concepts
  • Actuarial Life and Health knowledge
  • Knowledge in predictive modeling
  • Critical thinking, analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Demonstrate strong knowledge of financial statements, the insurance industry and risk management concepts
