Wage Schedule: $24.54 – $25.31 per hour in accordance with collective agreement requirements
Shifts: Monday-Friday, Days; Evenings and Saturdays as required (2-4); Hours: 15-30 hours per week

As a member of the Family Medicine Team/Department at the Toronto Western Hospital, the principal responsibilities of the Administrative Support Clerk include: answering, screening and triaging telephone calls; receiving patients/visitors coming in for tests/procedures and/or appointments; scheduling patients for tests, special procedures and/or urgent/emergency appointments; following established procedures to ensure the efficient flow of patient/patient appointments; providing routine clerical support services; performing cross-functional duties as assigned and/or required; performing other duties consistent with the job classification, as assigned and/or required.
QUALIFICATIONS
- At minimum, completion of a post secondary certificate up to 1 year in Office Administration or recognized equivalent
- General knowledge of office practices, process and procedures
- Knowledge of medical terminology preferred
- Experience working in a health care environment an asset
- Knowledge of a second language an asset
- Six (6) months to 1 year experience using computer applications or health information system required, i.e., EPR, MS outlook, PHS
- Must be able to read and understand sort notes, brief forms and/or instructions
- Must be able to add, subtract, multiply and/or divide
- Knowledge of another language, an asset
- Ability to perform duties in a professional and courteous manner and produce high quality work while meeting deadlines in accordance to UHN standards
- Exercise initiative and good judgement with ability to multi-task
- Compliance with confidentiality requirements under UHN Privacy Policy
- Effective organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills
- Knowledge of applicable legislative, UHN and/or departmental policies
- Client service oriented, with the ability to effectively work with diversity and appreciate that people with different opinions, backgrounds and characteristics bring richness to the challenge or situation at hand.
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment
- Ability to handle difficult patients/situations
