Procurement Services, part of the Ministry of Citizens’ Services, supports government as the lead agency for procuring and supplying the products and services required by government and the broader public sector to provide services to the people of British Columbia.
The Purchasing Agent provides central support for the acquisition of goods and services on behalf of all government ministries and other public sector agencies, and specifically the purchasing of goods over $5,000 as required by Core Policy. It acts as the first point of contact and triage, addressing or escalating vendor and buyer concerns by providing information or recommending a course of action. This position also provides research and recommendations into process improvement and best practices, and provides operational support as needed.

Job Requirements:
In order to be considered for this position, your application must clearly demonstrate how you meet the education and experience as outlined below:
Education and Experience
- Secondary school graduation or equivalent (GED).
- Minimum 1-year recent (within the last 8 years) related experience i.e. in purchasing and contract administration.
- Experience working with, and supporting, a diverse client/customer base.
Preference may be given to applicants with one or more of the following:
- A diploma or degree in procurement/contract management, project management, business administration, financial management, or a related field.
- 2 or more years’ recent (within the last 8 years) related experience i.e. in purchasing and contract administration.
- Completion of courses in purchasing and/or contract management.
- Experience with purchasing and contract administration in a public sector environment.
- Experience as a contributing member of a project team.
