There is currently a temporary opportunity available for approximately 7 months; this temporary opportunity may be extended and/or become permanent.

The Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Fisheries is responsible for the production, marketing, processing and merchandising of agriculture and aquaculture products, food security, and supporting enhancement of wild fish populations. The Ministry works to promote an innovative, adaptive and globally competitive agrifoods sector for the benefit of all British Columbians.
The Corporate Policy and Priorities Branch is responsible for policy, legislation and corporate statistics and research. The Branch also leads the coordination of Ministry service planning by setting objectives and accountability measures to ensure the Ministry operates efficiently and effectively.
The Climate Change Policy Advisor independently manages assigned climate change policy development projects focused on the development, review, revision, and oversight of Ministry programs and legislation. You are a skilled analytical thinker, an effective communicator, have excellent time management techniques, and thrive in a dynamic environment with evolving priorities.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:
To be considered for this position, your application must clearly demonstrate how you meet the education and experience as outlined below:
- Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant discipline, such as Agriculture, Economics, Resource or Environmental Management, Science, Geography, Business Administration, Public Administration, or equivalent. A Master’s Degree is preferred.
- Two or more years of experience in each of the following capacities, preferably in an agriculture/climate change context:
- researching, developing and writing policy papers and briefing notes;
- leading and/or participating in the effective operation of multidisciplinary teams;
- providing professional advice and recommendations on legislation, policy and/or programs to senior management, ministry executive and government officials.
- developing, fostering and maintaining effective relationships with colleagues, other government agencies, industry stakeholders and research organizations and institutes, developing knowledge and resources.
- Experience managing projects and/or project components.
Preference may be given for one or more of the following:
- Experience related to climate change mitigation and adaptation.
- Experience related to BC’s agriculture, agrifoods, and fisheries industries.
- Experience working with executive staff in the development of policy and legislation.
- Experience providing briefings to executive (e.g. Assistant Deputy Minister, Deputy Minister, Minister).
- Experience and knowledge of project management principles and approaches.
