We are currently seeking a Agriculture Advisor to join our team.
The Agriculture Advisor is responsible for ongoing growth of the regional agri-business portfolio. This role provides a full range of agricultural consultation to proactively identify and provide financial solutions to new and existing members. Activities include; building key sector relationships through internal and external referrals, business development, networks and connections in the community to effectively grow the portfolio.
Here’s what would be included as a part of your typical day * Business Development: Establishes and maintains relationships with existing members, networks with external business organizations and individuals in the agri-business community to generate referrals. Pursues relationships with new agri-business members and actively promotes the organization through participation in community initiatives and events.
- Portfolio Management: Assists in development of annual business plans by researching market opportunities and needs within the assigned market area; maintains regular contact with portfolio advisors and builds long term relationships that ensure the continued growth and profitability of the agriculture business portfolio.
- Sales and Service Strategy: Provides agri-business advisory services to members for agriculture business mortgages, loans, banking services and lines of credit; initiates referrals to product specialists in wealth, insurance, and retail banking as required; and achieves or exceed annual sales and growth targets.
- Risk Management: Conducts annual reviews or assists in compiling documents for annual reviews on commercial accounts within assigned portfolio and ensure all terms and conditions of credit are being met and reports regularly on the status and performance of portfolio; initiates collection activity in the event of delinquency less than 90 days and recommends appropriate course of action to address significantly delinquent accounts and to maximize recovery of funds; and assists credit recovery with collection activity on non-accrual loans as required.
- Risk Management: Conducts annual reviews or assists in compiling documents for annual reviews on agricultural accounts within the regional portfolio and ensure all terms and conditions of credit are being met and reports on the status and performance of portfolio; works with the Special Loans team in the event of delinquency and will take the appropriate course of action if necessary.
- Credit Underwriting: Partners with Agriculture Credit Specialist to ensure the application of quality standards, risk management policies and sound underwriting decisions to all lending activities.
Required Skills, Experience & Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in a related discipline or equivalent combination of education and experience required
- 5 years agriculture and/or commercial banking experience or equivalent experience required
- Extensive agricultural knowledge and expertise preferred
- Experience working in the agriculture financial sector preferred
- Strong relationship builder and communicator with a demonstrated ability to work well in a team environment
- Excellent listening skills with the ability to understand the needs of a client and match appropriate solutions
- Results oriented attitude with demonstrated business development techniques
- Strong organizational and time management skills with the flexibility to adapt to a constantly changing environment
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Applications, specifically MS Excel and Word.
- Displays an understanding of risk and risk ownership by being able to demonstrate adherence to policies and procedures.
