General Overview:The Service Manager will oversee the maintenance of the farm equipment and its infrastructure, i.e., tractors, trucks, forklifts, vans, farm implements, irrigation travelers, irrigation pumps, grading and processing equipment, small equipment, barns and bunkhouses. Key Responsibilities:• Ensure safe use of all equipment, (field equipment, process equipment and shop equipment), and report any unsafe equipment to owners.• Keep maintenance shop, shop tools and equipment neat and organized.• Responsible for preventative maintenance and minor repairs for all equipment on the farm.• Set up farm implements and equipment before going to the field.• Trouble shoot and test mechanical equipment operation.• Fix minor mechanical and software/electrical problems in the field.• Assist machine operators with equipment problems and issues.• Make adjustments to ensure peak efficiency of equipment in the field and in the packhouse. • Simple fabrication, including welding, cutting torch, etc. • General Maintenance duties, as required.• Continuously search for ways to improve farm equipment efficiency and overall farm operational efficiency.• Maintain accurate maintenance, safety and service records for all equipment.• Perform minor maintenance on all farm buildings and infrastructure.• Perform simple carpentry and plumbing • Coordinate with local trades: plumber, electrician etc. to maintain farm infrastructure. • Prepare buildings for winter and open buildings in the spring.• Ensure grounds are kept neat. Education and Skills/Knowledge Required:• 2+ years of experience performing service repairs.• Outstanding interpersonal and communication skills.• Agricultural Equipment Technician certification preferred; equivalent experience will be considered.• Proficient knowledge of mechanical, electrical and hydraulic systems used in the repair of agricultural equipment.• Ability to troubleshoot, repair, modify and improve equipment and processes.• Ability to use basic computer functions and Microsoft Office.• Ability to lift heavy objects.• Valid driver’s license, with clean Driver’s Abstract.• Ability to work under minimal supervision.• Capability of working outside in all types of weather and inside a barn/shop.• A strong work ethic, reliability and dependability are key requirements for this position.
