UAP’s Strategy & Growth team is a collaborative, high-performing and inclusive group responsible for maximizing value through optimization, growth, and transformation, empowering the organization to think innovatively and differently through trusted strategic advisory and partnership. This team’s scope is for all Canadian banners, including NAPA Auto Parts, CMAX, Altrom/Auto-Camping, Traction, TW, and Cadel.

Reporting to the Manager, Strategy & Execution, you will be responsible for supporting the development of UAP’s corporate strategy and strategic plans, in addition to building strong business cases and analyses for enterprise-level strategic initiatives. This role will work on highly visible initiatives to help propel transformation and optimization of our organization. You will lead cross-functional projects, deep-dive research and business analyses that enable future thinking, bring forward new ideas and help to rapidly evaluate and execute new opportunities.

To be successful in the role, you will require a high level of strategic and critical thinking capability, with the ability to draw clear and concise actions and insights, and present to senior leadership. You will also require a high-level of agility to manage multiple tasks, build two-way business relationships, and understand complex and multi-faceted internal and external data/information.

Job Description

Role’s Responsibilities

  • Support the development of UAP’s corporate strategy framework and short/long-term strategic priorities and plans, develop detailed growth and transformation strategies, and partner with leadership to articulate UAP’s strategic direction and roadmaps.
  • Identify new and emerging opportunities from an organization and industry-perspective, conduct in-depth research and analysis, and provide insights, proposals, and recommendations.
  • Develop an approach and assess/evaluate strategic options for new strategy projects and corporate transformation initiatives. Build models and plans to support new strategies.
  • Build and develop strategy documents, including presentations, Quarterly Business Review material, models, analyses, plans, business cases and white papers.
  • Support the annual strategic planning, reviews and development cycles and processes. Support strategy workshops and brainstorming sessions with the executive and senior leadership teams.
  • Research, identify and develop content, strategic/business plans, and organize strategic discussions across departments related to UAP’s strategy.
  • Develop and maintain the company’s strategy tools, data and presentations. Seek opportunities to improve business models and tools to drive deeper insights.

Qualifications

Requirements

  • Post-secondary education in Business, Finance, or a similar discipline related to the role; a higher level of education (e.g. MBA, CPA, CFA) is preferred.
  • 2-5 years of experience working in enterprise strategy, corporate strategy/planning and/or a strategy consulting firm; individual must have previous experience in developing enterprise-level strategies, strategic plans and strategic initiative white papers, business cases and analyses.
  • Strong communication, facilitation, and presentation skills, both verbally and in writing, and ability to build effective and collaborative business relationships; bilingual in French and English (both oral and written), is a requirement of the role.
  • Proven ability to enhance outcomes through strategic thinking and mindset, critical thinking capability and business analysis and improvement leadership, with demonstrated ability to synthesize multiple sources of information; the individual should have strong problem-solving, analysis and organizational skills.
  • Strong story-telling skills in developing clear and concise presentations and documents for executive and leadership audiences.
  • Expert-level skills in Microsoft Office tools (PowerPoint, Excel, PowerBI)
  • Business knowledge in the areas of automotive, distribution, supply chain/logistics, B2B and B2C is an asset and preferred.
