The Commissioned Officers consist of Canadian Forces personnel who have completed, or intend soon to complete, a Bachelor’s Degree. Officers have then accepted a Commission.
An officer is a commissioned member of the armed forces who plans, organizes, commands, and assesses the activities of non-commissioned members. They have the authority to train and lead all enlisted members and coordinate daily training activities for subordinates and recruits. Commissioned officers lead by example and develop practical strategies to improve the skills and experience of members under their command.
Commissioned officers serve in the navy, army, and air force. They report to senior officers yet remain the first point of contact for most armed forces members. Their main objective is to coordinate their troops, teaching them how to survive in all situations and function as a unit.

Applicants that choose to submit the application will be given a list of Unit locations and Trades available to apply to. Interested persons will also be sent links to more information as well links that can be used to book an initial testing and consultation appointment.
As applicants progress throughout the process they will receive more and more information which will enable them to pick the trade(s) they are most interested in. Trade(s) of initial interest can be changed throughout the process as more information becomes available.
In order to apply you must:
- Be 18 years of age (or 16 with parental consent).
- Have minimum Grade 10 education*.
- Be a Canadian Citizen or Permanent Resident.
*Officer applicants are required to either possess or be in process of obtaining a University degree.
As an Officer Cadet (without Bachelor’s Degree) the pay rate is $130.22 for a full-day.
As a Second Lieutenant (With Bachelor’s Degree) the pay rate is $146.14 for a full-day.
