Job description: The Gaming Policy and Enforcement Branch (GPEB) regulates all gambling in British Columbia and ensures the integrity of gambling industry companies, people, and equipment. This includes regulatory oversight of commercial gambling conducted and managed by the British Columbia Lottery Corporation (BCLC) (e.g. lotteries, casinos, community gaming centres, commercial bingo halls and online gambling on PlayNow.com), British Columbia’s horse racing industry, and licensed charitable gambling events. GPEB is also responsible for the administration of Gambling Support BC and, through their programming, for reducing harms from gambling products.

Gambling Auditors conduct various types of audits throughout the gambling industry, allowing them to utilize their compliance, operational, financial and information system auditing knowledge and techniques.

Working under the BC Gaming Control Act, the BC Gaming Control Regulation, and the Criminal Code, Gambling Auditors are expected to complete audits of BCLC, casino and bingo service providers, lottery operations, PlayNow, charitable organizations and events, as well as special projects. The Gambling Auditor must have the ability to plan, develop, organize, conduct and document audit assignments independently or as a member of a team, in accordance with professional standards. You will demonstrate an aptitude for identifying business risks, evaluating business processes and systems and communicating well supported conclusions and recommendations.

Gambling Auditors may also be assigned work conducting financial integrity analysis of registrants, AML reviews, investigating complaints from the public, conducting initial reviews or assisting Investigators on potential fraud cases, and working on projects that support other areas of the Branch.

Travel within BC and working extended hours and possibly weekends are a requirement. Use of own vehicle on expenses is required. This position is excluded from Union membership.

Job Requirements:
In order to be considered for this position, your application must clearly demonstrate how you meet the education and experience as outlined below:

  • Professional accounting designation CPA – CA, CGA, CMA, issued by a Canadian Accounting Association, in good standing.

Note: If your designation was obtained from outside of Canada, you will need to confirm it has been assessed for equivalency through an applicable Canadian Accounting Association.

  • Minimum of 3 years’ recent experience performing audits and compliance reviews.
  • Recent experience developing and implementing project and/or audit plans.
  • Recent experience developing audit programs and assessing risk.
