Position Title: Business Analyst (ETRM)

Team and Location: IT – Calgary, AB

Minimum Starting Salary: $ 79,600 /year

Position Summary:

Reporting to the Manager of Business Analysis, the role of the Business Analyst is to define, analyze and document business processes and requirements. This role is pivotal in delivering continuous business process improvements that best suits Parkland’s business plans for energy trading and risk management.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Liaison between IT and business to translate each other’s technical terms for better understanding of requirements, issues, and foster cohesive working relationship.
  • Provide support for various projects and initiatives including conducting process workshops, business requirements gathering, test preparation and execution, and training activities.
  • Point of contact for everything business process related from front office (Trade, Risk/Credit/Contracts) to middle (Logistics), and back office (Accounting & Finance)
  • Cultivate and disseminate knowledge of business process best practices
  • Conduct continuous improvement analysis on existing energy trading and risk management (ETRM) processes and their ability to support the business requirements.
  • Identify and evaluate project risks and participate in defining mitigation and control activities.
  • Assist in vendor interactions and addressing vendor business process questions
  • Champions business process automation for ETRM

Qualifications and Skills:

  • 5+ years of experience in providing business analysis functions including but not limited to
  • Assisting with business case development
  • Defining and mapping As-Is and To-Be business processes
  • Eliciting, translating & simplifying, analyzing requirements
  • Requirement management and communication to various groups
  • Completed undergraduate degree with outstanding academic credentials
  • Working knowledge of ETRM software ( Allegro or similar) is required
  • IIBA certification is preferred
  • Knowledge of Project Management methodologies
  • Excellent written and verbal communication, including technical writing skills
  • Able to provide consultation and guidance to project and program managers during various project phases
  • Enthusiastic learner with demonstrated ability to multi-task and thrive in a high volume, fast-paced and evolving work environment
  • Strong commitment to ensuring deadlines are maintained and achieved
  • Excellent interpersonal relations and demonstrated ability to work with others effectively in teams
  • Ability to develop and present new ideas and conceptualize new approaches and solutions
