Position Title: Business Analyst, Intermediate

Reports To: Director, Individual Projects and Operational Support

Department: Individual

Term: Permanent Full-Time

Work Arrangements: This is a hybrid role. You will work in our office in Waterloo, ON a minimum of two (2) assigned, consecutive days every other week, plus a fifth (5th) assigned day per month. You are welcome to work from the office more than the minimum requirement and there may be some roles that are required to work in our office more than the minimum requirement.

The Opportunity: Equitable is looking to bring a Business Analyst with Insurance Background or an Intermediate Business Analyst onto our Individual Insurance Project Management team. Business Analysts play a key role in contributing to the on time and on budget success of various projects by accurately capturing requirements and scope. If you are an analytical problem solver, with strong business acumen and a talent for building relationships and bridging gaps, this role might be the perfect fit!

What you will be doing:

  • Assess, research, analyze and document sponsor/stakeholder needs
  • Recommend business solutions that satisfy sponsor/stakeholder needs
  • Consult and coordinate with stakeholders to design and map business processes and procedures
  • Identify and report on initiative benefits by obtaining measurable objectives and key results, working with stakeholders
  • Lead Business Requirement sessions and identify, track and escalate issues for resolution
  • Prepare and consolidate requirement documentation
  • Prepare product backlog items based on initiative requirements
  • Create or assist others in the writing of user documentation, instructions and procedures
  • Support User Acceptance Testing by supporting planning and development of test cases and execution of tests

What you will bring:

  • Good knowledge of life insurance (products and processes) is preferred
  • Previous experience as a Business Analyst on Small to Medium Projects
  • Strong organization skills
  • Strong influencing and interpersonal skills with ability to develop and deliver presentations
  • Strong conceptual skills and ability to exercise flexibility and judgement in a changing environment
  • Thorough knowledge and understanding of analysis and productivity improvement methodologies
  • Post-secondary degree or equivalent combination of education and work experience
  • FLMI designation preferred
  • High level of accuracy and attention to detail
  • Strong documentation and presentation skills
  • Strong motivational and communication skills
  • Adaptability to change
  • Solid self-management and time management skill
