OVERVIEW
We are currently recruiting for a Business Architect based in Moncton, New Brunswick.
As the bridge between the business and the technology, this role will be a strategic leader and change agent architecting and managing a diverse application portfolio in the Transportation industry. Your focus will be building capabilities and value stream for the business through creative and fast-changing technology solutions. This will include developing competency maps, and ensuring the portfolio meets the current and future needs of the individual businesses, as well as the enterprise. This is an opportunity to strategically conceptualize at a high level while providing leadership in the introduction of new solutions, reducing portfolio complexity, and lowering the total overall cost. You’ll need to be process focused, technically sound and business savvy.
How you will spend your time working with IT and Business leaders:
- Establishing the governance processes and rules supporting the capture of critical application architecture planning information
- Providing oversight to the capture and validation of profile information for each application in the portfolio
- Identifying and managing metrics needed to provide effective management for the application portfolio
- Providing direction and guidance to Application Owners regarding approaches to manage current and future application assets
- Mapping and assessing each application to the business capabilities it enables to recommend go forward activities
- Providing Current State, Transition State, and Future State artifacts for application assets
- Providing guidance to Instance Strategy for Enterprise Applications
- Working with the IT Application Owners, define the appropriate master data, transaction data and integration approaches for each application
- Supporting the identification and analyzation of the Total Cost of Ownership for major applications
- Providing guidance for application solution decisions for Internally Hosted, Externally Hosted, or Cloud offerings
- Working with applicable reference architectures, methodologies, and/or maturity models to determine the right application solutions
- Owning and driving decisions that beget quality solutions
- Contributing to a positive and engaging team environment through collaboration and success sharing
Your Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or related field
- Masters Degree is preferred
- 5+ years of experience working as an application architect in a diverse, enterprise IT environment
- 3+ years of experience designing, planning, implementing and supporting software solutions in an enterprise IT environment
- Experience working in diverse IT & Business environments applying application rationalization techniques and creating application architecture artifacts
- Demonstrable experience in designing multi-year enterprise application plans and roadmaps
- Significant knowledge of the cost drivers of enterprise applications and effective management techniques of them
- Experience decomposing business processes and mapping processes to IT applications
- Experience providing leadership, planning, estimating, and presentations of ideas and solutions
- Ability to work effectively in a team-based environment
- TOGAF certification is preferred
