Job description: Overview

WorkSafeBC is seeking a business leader, Corporate Finance to be part of a team responsible for operational and strategic implementations related to the financial systems, and information and business process requirements of the Corporate Finance department. The successful candidate is responsible for supervising and providing work direction to other staff in the department’s daily operations; assisting as a process lead on projects; and leading or coordinating the development, maintenance, and training of department processes, procedures, and functions.

This position is approximately 12 months in length.

What you’ll do

As a business leader, corporate finance you will:

  • Plan and coordinate the activities that are needed to integrate the necessary business processes with systems changes as part of larger projects
  • Analyze and provide input into improvements to the daily operations and system processes of the Corporate Finance department
  • Evaluate business processes and follow best practices to develop and recommend operational business process improvement strategies
  • Participate in systems development projects and processes
  • Ensure changes to information and processes conform to internal financial policies and controls
  • Act as a liaison with cross-functional and cross-divisional business and technical teams, and provide input to individuals/groups regarding issues such as troubleshooting, training, efficiencies, etc.

  • Apply an extensive scope of knowledge on financial systems, information and business processes requirements.
  • Use well-developed verbal and written communication skills with the ability to present information, influence others, build relationships, and work collaboratively
  • Provide supervision of the daily work activities of the team and support team members through continuous mentorship and coaching

Your experience and educational background:

  • A university degree in finance, business administration, computer science or a related discipline
  • A professional accounting designation (i.e. CPA)
  • A minimum of 3 years of related experience in systems development, business project management, financial accounting or systems support.
  • Supervisory experience in an unionized environment is an asset
