Job title: Casual Nuclear Medicine Technologist
Job description: The Nuclear Medicine Technologist performs all in-vivo imaging and non-imaging procedures at a technical level not requiring constant supervision. Assists in certain administrative procedures specific to Nuclear Medicine as required.
As a Nuclear Medicine Technologist, you:
- Perform all in vivo imaging and non-imaging procedures as prescribed by physicians or radiologists.
- Prepare radiopharmaceuticals required for the daily examinations
- Administer radioisotopes to patients as required.
- Ensure that all sealed and unsealed radioactive sources are handled appropriately and that hospital staff and patients are protected appropriately
- Store and dispose of all radioisotopes as per department policies.
- Maintain aseptic technique in preparation and administration of radiopharmaceuticals
- Perform all QC procedures and verify results as per department policies.
- Ensure that all equipment is maintained in good working condition
- Liaise with service personnel as required
- Assist in Nuclear Medicine patient bookings
- Participate in the ongoing QA program
- Maintain all records required by the CNSC and other legislative agencies
- Meet or exceed continuing education requirements as directed by the CMRITO
Education:
- Graduate from a recognized accredited school of Nuclear Medicine Technology
- Registered in good standing with the College of Medical Radiation and Imaging Technologists of Ontario
Experience:
- Recent experience in Nuclear Medicine required
- Demonstrated clinical competency in all aspects of Nuclear Medicine procedures
- Experience in PET/CT an asset (or willingness to train)
Competencies:
- Working knowledge of Safety Code 35
- Working knowledge of RHPA
- Working knowledge of standards of practice for related field
- Able to identify and recommend process improvement opportunities
- Able to work independently and co-operatively as part of a team
- Recent satisfactory performance appraisal
- Recent satisfactory attendance record
- No recent disciplinary events
Other:
- Member in good standing with the Canadian Association of Medical Radiation Technologists (CAMRT) preferred.
- Member of the Society of Nuclear Medicine and Molecular Imaging (SNMMI) preferred.
Unless otherwise stated applicants must have a minimum educational requirement of Grade 12 or equivalent and must demonstrate proven workplace excellence through commitment to strong job performance and attendance.
