Casual Residence Support Worker – # 2021-031

Location: Vanderhoof – Valley View Residence

Hours of Work: Casual/on Call: Days, Afternoons, Nights, Weekends, Weekend Nights;

Shift Hours:

Weekday:0700-1500, 1500-2300, 0830-1630, 1400-2200, 2300-0700, Weekend 0700-1900, 0830-1800, 1900-0700 weekend hours may vary and can be up to 12 hours.

Salary: Effective Apr 1, 2020: $21.63 – $25.19 per hour as per CSSEA & CSSBA Collective Agreement (Grid Level 10)

Job Summary

Assists clients to live successfully in residential settings such as group homes. Our 24 hour staffed residential home is designed to support individuals or groups of individuals with daily living. Residential care workers ensure that the individual’s physical, emotional, social, educational and medical needs are met. This is an excellent opportunity for those looking to pursue a career in the social service field. You will build skills and experience while supporting others towards their goals and daily needs.

We Are looking for someone who:

Can assist these individuals to enhance their quality of life with activities of daily living and help develop life skills.
Transports and assists residents to appointments, shopping or leisure activities.
Administers medication to clients in accordance with established policies and licencing requirements
Provides emotional support and feedback to residents and their families
Maintains reports such as statistics, logbooks, and daily activities on residents
Who can provide the following tasks and duties: life skills training, meal preparation, housekeeping, personal care and personal finance training/coaching and implementing personal care plans.

Qualifications & Experience:

One (1) year recent related experience, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience
Food Safe and Emergency First Aid – Community Care (training can be provided as required)
Must demonstrate an understanding of theory, principles and practices in the field
Must possess basic computer skills

Required:

Valid class 5 driver’s license with no restrictions
Use of personal vehicle required
Satisfactory driver abstract
Criminal Record Check clearance
This position requires union membership.
