The church administrative assistant provides administrative support to the Corps Officers.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- General administrative duties: printing, photocopying, filing, etc.
- Compose emails on behalf of Officers,
- Update statistical databases – SAMIS, etc.
- Reconcile corporate visa expenses for Officers in Salvation Army software (training provided)
- Assist with the coordination of church/outreach events: assist with planning and preparing, procuring supplies
- Run various administrative errands related to the ministry unit as needed (transportation will be provided).
- Produce announcement slideshows for church services (PowerPoint).
- Assist with social media presence.
- With co-workers, help maintain general building cleanliness, and safety prep.
- Possible expanded duties during Christmas season
- Other work-related duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:
- Completed high school diploma.
- Valid Driver’s License and clean driver’s abstract
- Proof of Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Check or willing to obtain.
- Abuse prevention course through The Salvation Army. – we will provide the training
- Alternative combination of education and experience may be considered.
- Must be qualified to work in Canada today to apply for this position.
Experience:
- Three months of related experience would be an asset
- Experience in building digital communication: slideshows, social media posts would be an asset
Required Skills/Knowledge:
- Understand, support, and be able to communicate and model the mission, values, and policies of The Salvation Army in Canada.
- Attention to details.
- Capable of successful independent work and working as a team.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint)
- Proficiency with social media and digital communication.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
HOURS:
- This is a part-time position of 22.5 hours per week. No Sunday work.
- After 3 months probation completed, enrolment into a group RRSP plan will be offered. At the end of 3 months, all employees are eligible to receive sick time and medical/personal appointment time PTO benefits.
Successful candidates, prior to hiring, may be required to provide:
- Background check consent.
- A clear vulnerable sector screening.
- A clean drivers abstract.
- Completion of our online Armatus Abuse Training and required Health and Safety training.
