Position Summary:
This role is to support the development, growth and day to day operations of the First Responders Mental Health Specialty Pilot Program – an outpatient assessment and treatment program for injured workers who have sustained an occupational stress injury, requiring interprofessional assessment and treatment services to assist them in their return to work and function. The role requires leadership of quality assurance activities, administrative responsibilities, and collaboration with partners and stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities:
The Clinical Co-ordinator:
- Works closely with the program manager to ensure effective and efficient program operations.
- Tracks and monitors key performance indicators and ensures the program adheres to them.
- Reviews reports and provides coaching and feedback to the interprofessional team.
- Acts as a lead contact and liaison with internal and external stakeholders.
- Summarizes complex assessment findings, facilitates case conferences and ensures consensus amongst the interprofessional team.
- Acts as a clinical resource for the team that supports ongoing education, knowledge translation, and practice excellence.
- Performs clinical assessment work within professional scope and provides treatment services as required.
- Coordinates of WSIB services with appropriate health care and administrative professional.
- Liaises with WSIB and community health care professionals.
- Reviews and interpret reports and facilitate case conferences with WSIB.
- Participates in the collection and analysis of business benchmarks and clinical outcome measures.
- Coaches, mentors, and develops other health professionals within the program.
- Works as part of an interprofessional team model, providing evidence based, outcome oriented care and recommendations.
- Participates in continuous quality improvement and evaluation.
- Contributes to the overall vision/mandate of the Program.
- Supervises students as required.
Key Qualifications:
- Regulated Health Professional registered with relevant regulatory body (e.g. Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers, College of Occupational Therapist of Ontario) – required.
- Membership with relevant Association – preferred.
- Minimum 3 years relevant experience in assessing and treating patients with mental health conditions.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Experience providing services with a strong quality improvement focus to third party payers including WSIB.
- Customer and client centered approach to delivering excellent service, clinically and administratively.
- Evidence of continuing education, professional and personal development – required.
- Reliable, flexible, creative, and self-directed professional; able to work effectively and collaboratively with an interdisciplinary team.
- Exercises initiative and good judgment with ability to multi-task.
- Strong ability to successfully coach, develop, and mentor allied health professionals and physicians to improve program quality.
- Demonstrates excellent interpersonal, time management, and organizational skills.
