Responsibilities

  • Reporting to the Facility Manager, the Clinical Nurse Leader provides clinical leadership and direction by:
  • Ensuring that patient care is delivered according to professional nursing standards and in accordance with the policies and procedures of the Cape Breton District Health Authority.
  • Monitoring and facilitating the flow of patients within the departments and throughout the facilities of the CBDHA.
  • Identifying learning needs, developing and providing education programs for colleagues, staff and students.
  • Supporting staff as they advocate for patients and families throughout the hospital experience.
  • Assisting Nursing Staff with the discharge planning process
  • Assisting with the utilization of resources
  • Other related duties.

Qualifications

  • Registered with the Nova Scotia College of Nurses (NSCN).
  • B.Sc.N. or B.N.
  • CPR Certification or BCLS-C.
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support).
  • PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) or ENPC ( Emergency Nursing Pediatric Course)
  • TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course).
  • Three (3) years recent clinical Medical/Surgical experience.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to interact with team members and community partners.
  • Ability to work with minimum supervision, on a consultative basis, within the health care team.
  • Demonstrated leadership abilities in the clinical setting.
  • Demonstrated skills in critical thinking, priority setting and organization of work.
  • Demonstrated initiative, judgment and decision-making in nursing practice.
  • Demonstrated commitment to continuing education.
  • Experience in patient/family advocacy.
  • Demonstrated teaching ability.
  • Competencies in other languages considered an asset, French preferred.

Hours of Work

Permanent Part Time (35%) Position; 26.25 hours bi-weekly

Clinical Nurse Lead

$37.05 – $43.39

$44.91 with 25 years RN experience
