Job Description

Working within the Colleague Services division at Fairmont Chateau Lake Louise, the Housing Manager is a critical position delivering on our employee service promise; to providing the best possible living experience for our residents. Utilizing a diverse range of assets consisting of over 300 units across 15 buildings, and managing a team of 20 employees and managers, this key department head position is ideal for an experienced leader who values serving and building community, both in their department and for all residents on property.

What you will be doing:

  • Deliver excellent, thoughtful, and emotionally intelligent service to our staff and residents, managing resident relations within and without the department.
  • Recruit, Manage, Develop, and Engage a diverse team of up to 20 employees consisting of an Assistant Manager, a Coordinator, a Supervisor, and 10 – 15 Colleague Services Agents.
  • Work with the maintenance team to manage and maintain the property assets.
  • Oversee the employee arrival experience, ensuring each new resident is provided with adequate, clean and well maintained housing.
  • Navigate and assist residents with resident to resident relation issues, acting with empathy, privacy, and professionalism.
  • Oversee uniform exchange counter, room inspections, room-change assignments and key control.
  • Communicate, administer, and enforce policies and procedures outlined in the Colleague Housing Handbook & lease agreements with all residents.
  • Respond to security reports, and administer resident sanctions up to and including termination of lease agreements.
  • Research creative solutions and new ideas to a variety of problems and concerns that may arise from residents.
  • Liaise with Talent and Culture, Security, and Executive members, to maintain communication of resident relations, and to ensure support and assistance is acquired.
  • Learn and master the property rental program Rent Manager. On job training provided.
  • Oversee departmental administration; lease agreements, rent payments, employee and resident documentation, health & safety programs, uniform programs, payroll
  • Create and implement annual departmental goals, including action plans to address and improve results from the Employee Engagement Survey
  • Participate and support long term strategic planning for employee housing
  • Effectively manage expenses and control of assets, while adhering to annual Colleague Services budgets and monthly forecasts
  • Liaise with Regional Purchasing Manager for supplies and new purchases
  • Adhere to any and all legislative requirements
  • Ensure a clean and safe working environment, and actively participate in health and safety initiatives
  • Adhere to all hotel environmental policies and initiatives
  • Carry out any other tasks as assigned

Qualifications

Your skills include:

  • Prior experience with property management, housing administration, human resources, security or building maintenance an asset
  • Previous leadership experience as a manager, and a high level of empathy is required
  • Must be able to work in a fast paced environment with the ability to adapt to change
  • Must be flexible and able to handle a variety of tasks
  • Must be detail oriented, highly organized, and self directed/motivated
  • Proven oral and written communication skills
  • High computer literacy, with experience in Microsoft Suite, and troubleshooting required.
  • Knowledge of Alberta’s Residential Tenancy Act, Employment Standards, and Labor laws an asset
  • Occasional physically demanding duties in residence and outdoors – encompassing standing, walking, bending & lifting (25kg)
